Heal over Time, usually called HoT, means any spell or effect that applies an Healing skill recurrently in a specific period of time. HoTs are usually measured in heal per second.

To completely understand a HoT effect we need to know 3 specific information:

  • HoT Periodicity - Defines the time taken to apply each recurrent effect from the HoT. This is usually called TIC(time) or time to TIC.
  • HoT Intensity - Defines the Raw Power of the Effect. Usually described in heal per second (hps) or heal per tic.
  • HoT Duration - Defines the time until the effect run outs.

The Total HoT Heal can be discovered by one of these formulas:

  • heal per second x Duration (if the hps is given)
  • heal per tic x Duration : tic (if heal per tic is given)

IF a spell or effect has a base Heal and a HoT we can only figure the magnitude of it when we add the Total HoT Heal to the base spell Heal.
